the big bale barbecue

on Saturday evening we had the annual bank holiday weekend barbecue at the village hall. the weather was not at all bad, although it looked threatening and there might have been a slight sprinkling at one point, the meat and the sardines all got their traditional charring outside.

it was getting a bit dark so the photos are not perfect, but you get the idea.

Alastair and Paul worked very hard for two days to produce the most delicious meal, there were at least six large bowls of salad and other cold mediterranean style vegetable dishes to go with the delicious lamb (or sardines), blackish on the outside but perfectly cooked and very tender on the inside.

Geeta made a delicious and also enormous Eton Mess (strawberries, cream and meringue) everybody had as much as they wanted to eat and probably more, and it was a very good evening.
