The hall continues to serve as the hub of the community, with regular and new events usually attracting a good crowd. Christmas fish & chips was no exception, with plenty of Bale residents, our ‘honorary Bale-ites’ from Great Walsingham and our regular attendees from Sharrington. A lovely atmosphere, a good raffle and a beautifully decorated table, what more could one ask?
Bale Oak Bar (BOB) night fell on the 27th December and bar managers Fiona and Mark decided there would be enough people around to go ahead and they were right. It was a busy and very enjoyable evening. The icing on the cake was our famous Old Year’s Night (OYN) party. Alastair and team – Paul, Ann and Victoria – produced another wonderful meal. Rebecca, Tristan, Jules, Paul, Ali and Sandy had devised a challenging quiz, producing a tight contest, won, with an impressive final sprint, by Maggie, Ed, Rose, Win,
Fiona A and Jill. My congratulations to them and I’m already looking forward to their winners-devised quiz on OYN 2025!
Regular activities are up and running again: fish and chips on the second Friday of the month and BOB, the Bale Oak Bar, on the fourth Friday. The promised potluck lunch organised by Chris and Jude will be on 2nd February, and who knows what other innovative events may happen in 2025. As mentioned in the last Local
Lynx, there will now be a fish pie option on fish and chips evening. Orders in the usual ways, but by Wednesday for the fish pie, please. Queries or requests for more information via the village WhatsApp or email
