Martin Moore Bale Norfolk

Martin Richard Moore – 1956-2024

It was with great sadness that we heard on 2nd December that Martin Moore had passed away after a short illness.

Martin was born and grew up in the London Borough of Bromley and he and Paula remained there after their marriage in 1986. They moved to Bale in 2012 and loved living in the village, both taking active roles in the community. Martin was a pillar of All Saints’ church, serving as church warden and secretary of the PCC. He made generous donations to the upkeep of the church and the village hall.

Martin joined the Prudential in London straight from school as a trainee surveyor and became a Chartered Surveyor via day release and evening classes at Erith College. After qualifying, he rose rapidly through the ranks at the Prudential becoming Managing Director of Property Development, Chair of Real Estate and President of the British Property Federation.

As his involvement in M&G (formerly Prudential) came to an end, in addition to various board positions and work for The Crown Estate and English Heritage, Martin took on pro bono work with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, initially as a Trustee, then as Chair of the Guildhall School Trust.

At his Memorial Service on Friday 2nd January at All Saints’ church, Mr Howard Dawson, a colleague and close friend, described him as a gentleman and industry giant, a man of integrity, decent, understated and warmhearted. He remembered Martin saying, on his retirement, that to have been able to build, motivate and sustain a team of people around him had given him more satisfaction than any property deal.

Martin will be remembered locally as a kind, generous person who made time for anyone who needed advice or support. He took a genuine interest in everyone he spoke to, remembering the names of family members and details of their struggles and achievements. He will be very sadly missed by his family, friends and colleagues. Our thoughts are with his wife, Paula, his children, Rebecca and Dan and their families at this very sad time.

The family would be grateful for donations in his memory to the Royal National Institute for Deaf People at:
