The annual Bale barbecue at the end of August was again a great success, using all the hall’s supply of chairs and leading MC Paul to caution with regards to portion control. As it turned out, Alastair and John had, as usual, provided plenty to go around, for both carnivores and vegetarians, as had Ann with the desserts. It was a noisy, cheerful event and a good way for Bale to welcome new residents to The Lodge, Michael and Michelle.
There will be plenty to occupy us as we move into the darker months. In addition to the regular painting group, yoga and pilates classes, book group, fish & chip nights and Bale Oak Bar, Jude Ryan and Ann Wall are starting Bale Crafters Group on Tuesdays, approximately once a month. The hall will be open from 10am to 3pm for people to bring along their own crafting projects, e.g. knitting, sewing and jewellery to enjoy some time chatting and sharing skills with like-minded folk. There will be tea, coffee, cake and a lunch of home-made soup on offer all for a nominal charge, to cover costs. Jude and Ann can be contacted via WhatsApp if you would like more information. It all starts from 28th October.
Fish & chips dates are 10th October and 14th November, starting at 7pm (orders via Bale WhatsApp
by 5pm). Bring your own drinks. Bale Oak Bar opens for wine, beer, gin and soft drinks on 24th October and 28th November 6.30-9.30pm. Events in the village hall are not restricted to Bale residents, so if you would like more information on any of the above activities and are not in the Bale village WhatsApp group, please text 07793 214703 so that the organisers can contact you.
